Neil R. Gumenick — Program Director

M.Ac. (UK), C.T. (Adv.), L.Ac., Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM). Founder and Director of The Institute of Classical Five-Element Acupuncture. Neil is a Worsley-certified advanced teacher of Classical Five-Element Acupuncture and a practitioner with nearly 40 years of private practice experience. He holds three degrees from the College of Traditional Acupuncture (U.K.) and participated for 10 years in the Master Apprentice Program™, led by Professors J.R. and J.B. Worsley. Neil has taught at the USC and UCLA Schools of Medicine, the Worsley Institute of Classical Acupuncture, the Traditional Acupuncture Foundation, California Acupuncture College, Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine, and Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, and has been a Professor at Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine, Yo San University, and SAMRA University of Oriental Medicine. He is co-author of The Art of Practice Management for Acupuncture Health Care Practices, a frequent contributor to the California Journal of Oriental Medicine, and a distinguished columnist for Acupuncture Today. Eliot Ivanhoe, M.D., M.Ac. (UK), C.T. (A), Dipl. Ac.

After completing his residency in neurology, Eliot began studying with Professor Worsley in 1979. He received his Master's degree from the College of Traditional Acupuncture (U.K.) in 1987 and was involved for nine years in the Master Apprentice Program. Dr. Ivanhoe maintains a private practice in Santa Monica, CA.

Andrea Hoffman Kachuck, MD, FAAP, DABMA

A native Californian, Andrea earned her B.A. in dance with a minor in anthropology from UC Santa Cruz and her medical degree from the USC Keck School of Medicine. After a pediatric residency at LAC-USC followed by a fellowship in pediatric rehabilitation, she practiced at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center and became medical director of California Children's Services (CCS) for Los Angeles County. Drawn to a more holistic approach to healing, she studied acupuncture first with Dr. Tsun Nin Lee and then through Dr. Joe Helms' Medical Acupuncture for Physicians course. After passing her Medical Acupuncture Boards in 2005, Andrea began studying Classical Five-Element Acupuncture with Neil Gumenick. She teaches Introduction to Clinical Medicine at the USC Keck School of Medicine and maintains a private acupuncture practice for children and adults in Valley Village.

Mary McCullough, B.S., MSOM, L.Ac.

Mary studied zoology and physiology at Grand Valley State University in Michigan, earning a B.S. in 1992. She has over 20 years of experience in both patient care and management and was Technical Director of the Sleep Disorders Center at UCLA Medical Center. She earned her MSOM in 2008 at Dongguk University Los Angeles, including an internship at Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital in South Korea. Mary went on to teach acupuncture and herbology at the university while completing her postgraduate studies at The Institute of Classical Five-Element Acupuncture. She maintains a private practice in Santa Monica and Long Beach.

Nicole Glathe, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.

Nicole earned her B.S. in biology, with an emphasis in human physiology, from UC San Diego, then earned her Master's in Chinese Medicine from Emperor's College, graduating Summa Cum Laude. While earning her Master's, she trained at The Institute of Classical Five-Element Acupuncture and worked directly under Neil Gumenick as his clinical intern. She is licensed by the California Acupuncture Board and a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She maintains a private practice in West Los Angeles and Redondo Beach.

Lindsay Kohn, L.Ac., MSOM

Lindsay completed her undergraduate degree in Religious Studies, emphasizing Southeast Asian religions, at UCSB in 2004. She then spent years traveling the world — particularly Southeast Asia and India — doing photography, hiking, studying meditation, and teaching qigong. She attended AOMA in Austin, TX, receiving her Master's in Chinese Medicine in 2012. Directly after graduating, she began the Classical Five-Element Acupuncture Program while starting her own practice. Lindsay maintains a full practice and the only Classical Five-Element Acupuncture clinic in Austin.

Hilary Skellon

Hilary is President of the Institute of Taoist Education and Acupuncture (ITEA), where she previously served as Clinical Director and Dean of Students. She is responsible for all continuing education courses and conducts all faculty training for ITEA. She holds three degrees and an advanced teaching credential from the College of Traditional Acupuncture (U.K.), awarded by her father, the late Professor J.R. Worsley. She began her practice at the College in 1982, joined the faculty in 1983, and became Acting Principal in 1991. She was awarded a Master Apprentice Certificate by Professor Worsley in 2000 and has served on the faculty of WICA in Florida, the London Institute of Five-Element Acupuncture, the School of Five-Element Acupuncture in London, and The Institute of Classical Five-Element Acupuncture in Los Angeles.
